Brenda McGarrity and Jen Dudnyk Named Co-Chairs of Adopt-A-Family’s 35th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration
Longtime supporters of Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc., Brenda McGarrity and Jen Dudnyk will co-chair the agency’s 35th annual Tree Lighting celebration at the Sailfish Club. An event dubbed “the unofficial kickoff to Season,” this holiday tradition features the always-moving lighting of the Angel Tree and will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
“This event is one we look forward to year after year,” said Adopt-A-Family CEO Matt Constantine. “We have the most incredible group of dedicated supporters who help us to bring programs and services to the hundreds of families in need in our community. Adopt-A-Family receives more than 80 calls per day, showing a continuous need to help families who have exhausted all resources and are in need of shelter and/or housing. While we are on the front lines, these volunteers are with us on the ground, jumping right in to do what they can. We are looking forward to another incredible event so we can help as many families as possible.”
The evening begins with a serenade by The King’s Academy choir, a cocktail reception, and a silent auction featuring an extensive live orchid display. A “super-silent auction” of noteworthy items will include round-trip airfares for two, a Salvatore Ferragamo bag, a night at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, and much more. After a welcome address by Constantine, Adopt-A-Family’s Angel Tree will be illuminated, honoring the donors and partners whose generosity has assisted thousands of homeless families and children during the last year. A gourmet meal will be followed by a rousing live auction; last year’s event featured a Lily Pulitzer-inspired holiday wreath and a bottle of wine valued at $5,000.
“We are so looking forward to this year’s Annual Tree Lighting Celebration,” shared Brenda McGarrity and Jen Dudnyk together. “While we have big dreams for the event, our goal remains to not just help these families live, but to provide the means to help them thrive. It is an ongoing process of compassion and kindness to be able to change someone’s life, and nothing carries more potential for change than reaching out to those in need right here in our own communities. Adopt-A-Family continues to focus on the future and cultivate the thought of caring for the wellbeing of others and we are so proud to be a part of that.”
In the past 12 months, Adopt-A-Family has worked with 2,771 families, providing housing services to 609 families and their 1,233 children. In late 2018, the organization broke ground for a new housing program in Lake Worth, and its Project Grow after school program had a 98 percent success rate of students promoted to the next grade level – far exceeding local and national averages. Adopt-A-Family has also been recognized with its 13th consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, a distinction achieved by only 1 percent of nonprofits nationwide.
